Given the current events in Lebanon, Lebanese physicians working there have been in the news extensively lately. Some have chosen to leave in search of a more stable life; some have chosen to stay, and some have chosen not to move back to Lebanon in the first place. We will interview Lebanese physicians working in Lebanon and beyond to get their opinions about the events taking place in Lebanon, the future of medicine in Lebanon, and the role Lebanese physicians play worldwide in their respective fields, and their connections to their home county. We will highlight success stories, stories that were not so successful, and everything in between. Medical students, physicians-in-training, and attending physicians at different points in their careers will be interviewed. We hope you will find this podcast beneficial and exciting!

Please listen to our latest episode of The Lebanese Physicians' Podcast with Hala Najm, Rasha Abi Hana, and Ziad Khatib. This is the first episode recorded in person in Washington, D.C. Ms. Najm and Ms. Abi Hana have significant experience in substance use disorders and mental health awareness in Lebanon. Ms. Najm is also on a Hubert Humphrey Fulbright scholarship at VCU researching substance use disorders and prevention. In this episode, we discuss methods to prevent and treat substance use disorders and we discuss genetics and risk factors of the disease. We also discuss the push towards improving mental health awareness and reducing stigma in Lebanon through Ms. Abi Hana's experience advising the Ministry of Public Health on this issue. We also learn about stigma and substance use disorders in Europe through Dr. Khatib's experiences.
